The sounds, all of the sounds that ran through the girl's mind, they were all muddled together with the inky blackness that was in her head. She could not remember what had happened to her. Her body felt like it was on fire, and she could not help but wonder what she had done, what she had been through. She felt like she had been torn to shreds. Her mind felt like she had been shattered to pieces, and that nothing really seemed to remain of her. She felt like she was floating there, with out anything to hold on to. She felt like she was moving, but she could not reach forth. She heard voices, but they sounded so far away. She felt tired, and wanted to sleep more. She decided that she would sleep for a bit.

That was her mental state when her command wolf had exploded from an attack as she had tried to escape through the rift. The Bio-zoid that fired it laughing in glee at its success. It did not know that the pilot had been lucky in avoiding the bio particle cannon attack by enough. No, it had no way of knowing, it just saw an explosion, not the other side of the rift where the girl lay, with metal shards in her body, and most of her body covered in blood, flayed skin, and burns. The only thing the Bio Tyranno knew was that an explosion from with in the portal had rocked it, and had most likely ended that annoying command wolf pilot. It picked up a part that was left behind, a blade of some sort, it would enjoy figuring out what it was meant for. It would enjoy it a lot...

Six months later, back on Zi.

She was staring at the ceiling in what was said to be her room. She had been released from the hospital recently. They said her name was Arianna Reilina Phoenix, a pilot for the mostly decommissioned Zoid Team, Fury. She was a pilot. She could not figure out why they said that, and when she looked herself up on the terminal in the hospital, she saw a plain girl who looked nothing like her. For one, both of her eyes were the same color, and her skin was pale. She also lacked the crimson streak that was in her own hair, yet the doctors and many others claim that she was this pilot. Her head hurt any time she tried to remember. It had taken a lot of energy just to recover the ability to understand the language. She did not feel that she was the person they claimed she was, but she knew she was apparently this person, and no one would believe otherwise with in the community that had treated her.

Apparently she had been found roaming an empty town, looking like a feral, half dead animal. Apparently they could see her roaming around the village at night, with her crimson pupil apparently glowing in the light of the moon, and her body had needed a lot of work to save her life. She understood this. She did not remember it, but she understood at least. She wished she understood what she was supposed to do here though, in her room. She saw the organoid that had called her mistress, and witch. She did not know why she did that, but she was not meaning it in any kind of negative way. She had embraced her, and said that she would protect her until she was back to full capability. She still wondered why she was here, in this place though....

That was when she realized she needed to relearn things, so that she could survive. She did not have a job, did not have any idea how much money she had left, she had no zoid which was apparently a big thing, and she did not have any family she could contact. Apparently they could not reach her family. She was aware that the place that she had been left in, was a large base, apparently Fury's old base. It was the only home she had, luckily it was shelter. She wanted to learn again what it was to be a Zoid pilot. She wanted to earn money, and survive. She just did not know how. She would have to find the ones that could teach her eventually, but before that... she needed a zoid.

She had to get reacquainted with the basics of being a human, so to speak. She had to build up her confidence, as she put on some plain clothing, and found what little money she had stored about. She did not know if it was enough, but it seemed that was all she had. It would have to do. She needed to see about getting a Zoid, but it was one of those moments where she needed to work on getting something to pilot, that was what she was reassured of. She really did not know what else to do, since she could not see learning how to pilot with out a zoid to pilot. She wished she did not have to worry about it yet, but with out it, she was likely to not be able to join a team... if they were still allowed.

She would take a while to get from the old furian base to a city, it took a lot of effort to find transportation from there to the place of people. She did not really understand why people were looking at her, but brushed it off as she was feral looking. She did not realize how she looked, nor was she aware of the whispers that were made beyond her. She only focused on the mission she had. She would find a zoid, and that would have to do. She was feeling rather strong, even if she was nervous around all these people. She did not know that today would show her that she needed to fear more than what was in front of her. That people would show a much scarier side to them, nor that she would be guided by something beyond her when she would start to close her eyes.

She would get off the transportation and step into the city for the first time since the rift war. It had changed is what she would have said, if she remembered the place at all. Instead she looked at it was a stranger, marveling at the size of the area, the buildings, the zoids, and the number of people walking around. It was a simple desert town, but that was still something strange, since the only town she had seen since recovering her senses was the town she had haunted. That had not helped her much, since it was unfamiliar, and empty. She would have to ignore the feeling of stalking those streets again. She had a mission that she must accomplish. She focused with out understanding the world around her, and started towards the place where she was told Zoids would be sold.

This was the beginning of her history with her soon to be partner, but there were many hardships to come. She did not know what to expect when she had started this path, but she knew it was a start, but not of the troubles she was about to come to. She had her goal, but not her fate on this situation. She would start to close her eyes to try to tune things out, and that was when she saw it... a creature out the side of her eyes.

She was not certain she saw it initially, but there it stood, semi transparent in front of her. Well in front was not exact, it was several feet away, in the direction she was going, and it looked at her, an ethereal growl released from it and then it turned and ran quickly getting lost in the distance towards what she could only assume was the place she was heading. It looked strange... like a zoid... but she did not know what kind of a zoid it was. She shook her head for a moment, and then started her own run in that direction. She needed to reach there and try to get herself a zoid for the sake of being able to learn. This was her goal, and she needed a goal, for not much was in her head right now otherwise.

She used her small form to her advantage to get around. She was not small enough to not get in the way if she was not careful, but she was small enough to be able to dip and weave through groups of people, so she was applying that. She would notice that there was a lot of people around today, and it made her on edge. They were strangers, and though everyone was practically a stranger to her right now, this was a large group, and she had no idea what to think about it. She focused on her task, often times whispering to herself "Get to the place, get a zoid." over and over again, like a mantra. It helped her to keep focused and not try to hide from everyone. She knew she was different now, even if she did not remember who she was originally, or how she was. Had she not seen the picture of who she was before, she would not have known that she had a physical change so drastic. She realized she barely passed for human now.

She would finally slip into the door to what could be considered the Zoid dealer, unknowing of herself that this was a place she had been to several years ago. She had a brief feeling of Deja vu, but ignored it. This was not likely something she knew, she was not likely to have ran into anyone here. She started looking around for the zoid she would make her partner, or at least learn in. She saw the ethereal image that had guided her here, and it was standing next to a zoid that looked similar to it. The Zoid was a rex style zoid, with two large claws. She seemed to recall that this was a powerful zoid, and that it was known for being a capable zoid, with high melee specifications as well as a shield and some strange hidden weapon. She did not know why she remembered that, but she saw the strange image in her head give her a look. The strange almost biological zoid leaned in and sniffed her face, before looking at the Zoid that it had lead her to. It was like seeing a different version of itself, the strange one she saw lacked the extra appendages, but it was basically the same.

Then she was drawn out of the dream.

The strange ephemeral dream was over, and she was standing in front of the Fury. She looked back, and there was three Spinosappers standing there. Other zoids were in the area, but what was amusing to her was all the people on the ground. "GET ON THE GROUND NOW! THIS IS A ROBBERY!" she heard, and suddenly it made sense. Her Bi-chromatic eyes scanning the area, and noticed that the people were all being held in a corner, other than her. She was next to a zoid. Her mind started racing about what to do when she had an idea. She jumped as bullets were sprayed from an arm gun that had been messily applied to one of the sappers, and landed on the Fury, leaping up it carefully, before putting herself into the open cockpit. She started messing with things, and suddenly it was ready.

The sudden emotions and feelings wrapped around her in a familiar way. She had been in the cockpit many times. Not this one specifically, but one none the less. She had let her hands guide her, as they would make it so that she could get the thing to start, and with a roar, it was ready. She had been a little reckless, seemed only the melee weapons could be used. She did not mind. She realized why she was guided to this zoid. Melee was her style. She wanted to learn, but she could handle melee a lot better. She had been too far from the rev raptor, and they did not have many other zoids on the floor. Still the Sappers were now moving closer. She would have to be careful. She had slid her pilot license into the recognition slot while she had been busy getting this thing ready. She felt the rex move, and it felt... natural. She remembered moving in something that was a bit lower to the ground, and a bit faster in such ways, but less....agile. She knew this would be more agile, and a smile suddenly grew on her face.

"I will have to purchase this zoid when I finish with these guys, but for now....Let them feel my Fury!"

She would ram the front most one into the one on the left, before doing a tail swipe knocking all three of them out the hole in the wall that they had created. Really? A Hole? Could they not have used the door meant for zoids? She shook her head, and leaped on the three, looking at her options, she chose the not so subtle task of beating into them with the rex arms. She had aimed it as a strike laser claw. She would stomp as she went, to try to force those three to remain on the ground. Her instincts told her these were not pilots, they had not fought in battle with zoids. They had no idea what they were doing, and it was obvious from the Sappers mods. She avoided the cockpits, and just forced a careful but brutal system freeze mostly using the weight and the hands of the Fury. The two large arms on the back remained facing back, and she decided that she would not bite. She would just hold them there, in that way till the police came by on their sanctioned zoids, and would back off only then. She walked her zoid back into the shop through the hole in the wall.

Climbing down, she would ask to pay for the fury, unaware that it was normally outside her price range. The proprietor was happy to have not lost a ton of money or had blood spilled on his floor, annoyed at the wall though, and glad that a "Skilled" Pilot had stepped up, even if she had technically taken liberties. He had one of his mechanics set up the zoid for sale, and gave her a discount only because of her finesse, saying that if she had actually damaged the establishment or the zoid, he would have charged her more. She was just happy to have helped. She did not realize how much she had accomplished until she reflected. Her body really did remember how to pilot a zoid, but she could not remember. She needed to learn so that she could remind herself on a conscious level. Obviously if she had gotten injured in the rift war, her body was not to a level she could all instinct it. She would sit waiting for the fury to be finished, as she had decided she would drive it home.

The sun was setting when she started on her way to Fury Base. the zoid of her choice now in her control, and fully operational too. This was her partner. This was to be her zoid that she would wield. She just had to learn how to be a pilot again. This would be the beginning of her new life. The restart. Most people did not have a chance to get started again, still many thoughts flowed into her. Why a fury? Was there a specific reason? Why did she know how to make it move so well? Had she seen it before? It was not like she had piloted one before to what she knew. Apparently she had piloted a Command wolf before. She would have to answer these questions in the future, and many more. She just hoped that she could find a teacher in the future, since it was not like she could enroll in an academy as she was.

She would sleep well that night, in her old manner... in the cockpit of her zoid.

Not a bad read, a bit choppy at points, but I enjoyed the stylistic erratic quality of someone trying to regain a grip on the world
