Character Description:
Age: 19 physically, over a century chronologically
Gender: Female
Physical Description:
Kara was, from all previous accounts, an unremarkable young lady. Short and mousy, she was a frumpy-looking girl; a weak jaw and a slightly bigger nose than usual prevented her from looking anything more than plain. The most attractive part of her were her striking brown eyes; the only thing still recognizable about her along with the thin eyebrows that line them.
Kara’s black hair, dyed a slight blue, is done up in a messy page-boy haircut. Her face is soft and unnervingly symmetrical; the benefits of facial reconstruction. Small, white X-shaped scars line her face, slightly faded from time. She only uses a bit of make-up to touch herself up and cover the scars. Generally she’s seen with a small smile or an eager grin, befitting her temperament.
Expensive bodily reconstruction has been very kind to Kara. She now sports a lithe, curvaceous build completely unbefitting her previous preoccupation as an idle rich kid and Zoid fanatic. Her complexion, once pasty and pale, now gives off a healthy glow – although, like her face, faded X-shaped scars line it from place to place. Long, supple limbs and a firm, perky chest complete her new look.
Kara knows what she’s got. She wears a tight purple qipao cut short above her knees, black thigh-high stockings and purple slip-on sandals. Her dress is put together by a ruby pin – a replacement fake, as she sold the real one long ago.
This is the limit of what she does to accentuate her appearance; most of the time she’s disheveled and sloppy, and has started to look skinnier and paler despite the overwhelming advantages of artificial reconstruction on her side. Her bad posture and lack of physical fitness are attributed to both her extensive cryosleep and her sedentary lifestyle.
Personality:
Kara is usually a cheerful, peppy girl to get along with. She’s very insecure and resents being reduced to her family name – or, worse, her status as an accident victim and her reliance on said family’s kindness to survive. It’s very easy to get her riled up about just about anything, but she doesn’t really get angry for long; usually she resents being angry, even when it’s justified. Normally she’s sweet, energetic and nice to others.
Despite this niceness, Kara prefers keeping people at a distance. She’s still dealing with a lot of baggage from being the sole survivor of her family – the deaths of her parents and siblings hit her hard. She doesn’t react well to flirting, turning to either disgust (if she doesn’t like the person) or embarrassment (if she does).
Kara is very enthusiastic about Zoids, having studied them extensively. She’s fascinated with them, how they work, and how she can pilot them best. When in a Zoid, she adopts a different, focused personality; not psychotic, but eager to fight.
Kara has a very strong dislike of off-world travel, owing to her accident. On the other hand, she seems to enjoy the thrill of Zoid battles as much as spectators do. Her fighting style is simple – she prefers to get up close and personal to the opponent and hack their armor off.
Backstory:
Kara Yun Sei was born the youngest daughter of the Yun Sei family, a powerful mercantile family which specialized in computer parts. She had a normal childhood – her parents often overlooked her for her older siblings, so she had a lot of time to herself. Using this time, she would often read about Zoid Pilots and their battles.
At the age of 19, Kara lived a more-or-less unremarkable life; she was the daughter of a wealthy family, and taking up a computer science degree. She never lost her passion for Zoids, though, and would watch and research them extensively. She grew a reputation in her school as a Zoids fanatic, and would often commentate on amateur/illegal matches.
All that changed on August 15, when her personal space cruiser met with an accident.
It was a miracle that Kara survived, the life support systems straining to keep her from death. Her horrified parents took her into the best medical care money could buy, but the damage was so extensive that she needed long periods of cryosleep and alteration to make sure she survived.
When she was finally let out, the Yun Sei family had moved on. Her relatives –descendants of her brothers and sisters – showed little interest in her, and (most frustratingly) complex legal matters had made her entitled to exactly zero of the family fortune. Most embarrassingly, her release was a media fixture for some time, marking her as the “poor little rich girl” – finally, after media pressure, her descendants gave her a place to stay away from the public eye.
Frustrated, she turned to the one sport she could remake her name in; Zoid battling. Armed with a Rev Raptor and limited experience, she now fights to redeem herself in the eyes of others by becoming the best Zoid pilot around.
